How long have you been working out? Before Boot Camp I never
really worked out at all. I would go to the gym maybe once every few
weeks but that was the extent of my physical fitness. Since I started
Boot Camp, I've been working out consistently for almost two years!
What is your current exercise routine? My main
exercise routine is Sonki Fitness Boot Camp in Santa Monica @ 6:30am (Mon,
Wed and Fri). I try to do 2 to 3 mile runs around the Brentwood golf
course on the off days (Tue, Thu). If I get lazy I make up for it by
going on a hike, a bike ride or a run at the beach with my husband on the
weekends.
What is your motivation to stay in shape? I thought
my motivation for staying in shape was to fit into my wedding dress, but the
wedding is long over with now and I still push myself to get up every
morning. I really like the way I feel physically and even more so
mentally now that I’m in shape.
What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape?
My greatest challenge is eating better. Working out is hard enough but
eating better is the key. As soon as I changed my diet this past
August, I started noticing a difference much quicker.
What is your key to success? It’s no secret that diet
AND exercise is the best way to stay in shape. For me that means
working out, no soda, no bread, no pasta, very limited sweets and A LOT of
water!!! The key is that I allow myself to cheat here and there.
If I didn’t cheat, I would go crazy! ;)
How long have you been doing Sonki Fitness Boot Camp?
I started working out with Sonki Fitness in April 2005 and have been doing
so consistently to date for 22 months now.
What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it
affected your life? What I like most about Sonki Fitness Boot
Camp is the camaraderie. I've met so many people, and we all seem to
keep each other focused and motivated. That, in addition to the
positive and structured environment, is what keeps me coming back every five
weeks. Not to mention, I love exercising outdoors and would never get
the same total body workout on my own in an hour at the gym.
Boot Camp has taught me that it’s okay to be a little selfish with my
time even if it’s only for a few hours a week. That mentality has spilled
over into other parts of my life. I make the time to do things I enjoy.
What advice would you give to others about fitness?
Gym isn’t for everyone. I would say to keep searching for an exercise
routine that works for you. Once you get the routine down, convince
your friends to do it with you. My girlfriend Justine joined Sonki
Fitness a few weeks after I did, and she’s been hooked with me. It’s
much more fun to have a friend motivating you along the way.
Any other comments? GO BEARS!!! (Sonki's
