Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Sonki Fitness Boot Camp like?

A: Sonki created the program based on his West Point & U.S. Army training, so it’s designed to get an individual in the best shape of his life in the shortest possible time. Our training methodology includes a right mix of strength training, cardio, muscle toning, interval training, flexibility improvement, and even some fun games. You can expect to work every inch of your body while being challenged to the fullest mentally & physically. And you will have a lot of fun and meet some really cool people along the way.

Q: How’s it different than other boot camps & gyms?

A: Our boot camp offers a far more personalized approach than a gym. You feel like you have a personal coach who is genuinely looking out for you. And unlike other boot camps, there is no yelling or screaming (even though it’s based on Sonki’s actual military training). Our environment is very friendly, fun, and supportive.

Q: How long is it?

A: Our program is 5 weeks long, and each class is an intense 1 hour of total body workout. You can expect to burn off 600 – 800 calories during that hour!

Q: Who can join?

A: Our boot camp is for all ages and levels (we even have an 88-yr old!). Specially designed to challenge everyone, it allows you to push the physical limits at your own pace. And since we have a 99% success rate, everyone is fully capable of succeeding in our program.

Q: When and where is it?

A: We currently have morning and evening classes in the Los Angeles area – Manhattan Teach, Playa Vista, & Santa Monica.

Q:What kind of results can I expect in 5 weeks?

A: We’ve had clients lose as many as 15 lbs in 5 weeks, improve the mile time by over 3 min, go from zero to 30 push-ups, and many more success stories. Your results will be directly proportional to your commitment and effort. Based on our average fitness assessment scores, in 5 weeks a typical person improves her upper body strength by 30%, core strength by 30%, and runs the mile 30 seconds faster.

Q:I have an injury. Can I still participate?

A: Yes. We teach you to listen to your body while going at your own pace, so you can participate even with an injury. For example, if you have a bad back and can’t perform certain ab exercises, we show you an alternative that you can do. We will show you how to get in shape without aggravating your injury.

Q:I haven’t worked out in years. Will I be able to handle the workouts?

A: Absolutely! We’ve had many clients start our program at rock bottom fitness level and within weeks get in the best shape of their lives. We’ve even had a client who could barely run a quarter mile when starting out go on to run the LA marathon (twice)! We teach you to go at your own pace within your limitations, so we will never make you do anything you’re not physically capable of. However, in the process you will be gently pushed beyond your preconceived mental limits to realize your immense potential, ultimately getting to that “next level of fitness.”

Q:What is special about Sonki Fitness?

A: Too often exercise programs focus only on the body, yet our mind and emotions play a key role in our level of commitment and motivation. At Sonki Fitness, we focus on all three facets (mind, body, & soul) to ensure our clients can get in shape AND stay that way for life. We see fitness as a way of life, not just a workout. Our programs will teach you about self-discipline, fitness, and positive attitude so that you can learn to stay in shape for the rest of your life.

Aside from the obvious benefits, many of our clients find the real rewards come with the genuine friendships forged and the fun times had. We’ve had many clients form close friendships with one another, even marriages and engagements. And we really do have fun in class. Here’s a quote from one of our clients, “I was doubled over with laughter so much this past year that it was the equivalent of 1000 sit-ups!”
