BACKGROUND:  I grew up as an athlete and was a competitive swimmer through college but struggled to maintain that level of commitment to exercise since then. I’ve always been in ok shape, but have fluctuated a lot in how often I work out and the intensity of my workouts. I moved to LA in December 2017 and was committed to starting a new exercise routine. I was lucky enough to find Sonki Fitness, and it has helped me stay consistent and continue to improve my overall fitness longer than any of the other workouts I’ve tried. I feel the best that I’ve felt in a long time!

What is your current routine?  Sonki Fitness on M/W/F, running on the beach Tuesday or Thursday, and spin class on Saturday’s.

What is your motivation to stay in shape?  I want to be able to stay healthy as I get older and feel that staying in shape is a key component to that. I’ve had a lot of back and flexibility issues and staying in shape has helped to alleviate those. I also like to challenge myself and want to be able to go on longer hikes, compete in races, and continue to push my own limits.

What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape?  Staying consistent is always a challenge. It’s sometimes easy to go home after a long day at work and not want to work out, but I always feel better after being active.

What is your key to success?  Reminding myself how much better I feel after a workout and all of the progress I’ve made to get to where I am now.

What do you like about Sonki Fitness and how has it affected your life?  I like that Sonki Fitness has given me a community and a consistent place to work out where it’s challenging, but fun. Every time I start getting used to the work outs, Gabe mixes things up and I constantly feel like my overall fitness is improving. I’ve been a lot more confident since joining and have been able to continue pushing myself to achieve new fitness levels.

What advice would you give to others about fitness?  Try to find something that fits in with your schedule and that you can commit to long term. Finding a workout routine that’s fun and continues to challenge you is also key!
