What is your current exercise routine?  I used to train with Sonki Fitness when I lived in Westwood. Now, I alternate between tennis (just started this spring) and yoga, with an occasional walk in the hills of my neighborhood.

What is your motivation to stay in shape?  Most importantly, I exercise to maintain my health. I had kids a little later in life, so I’d like to be around to meet my grandkids and have fun with them. A distant second reason is I hate the idea of growing out of my clothes. Except for my pregnancies, I’ve been pretty much the same size my whole adult life.

What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape?  My greatest challenge is just plain laziness. I would much rather grab a book and tuck into my hammock.

What is your key to success?  The key to success is to keep exercise fun. No matter the activity, Zumba, Krav Maga, or just walking, I try to find a friend to share it with. And, if no one will come with me, I just show up anyway and make friends.  It keeps it fun and adds some accountability.  It’s easy to say no to a workout on your own, but much harder when someone else is counting on you.

What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life?  Before Sonki Fitness, I did the usual non-athlete girl exercise routine: running, stair master, light weights, etc. But doing Sonki Fitness has taught me I can be tough. I trained with my husband, and even though he’s almost a foot taller than me, I still tried to keep up with him. As Sonki knows, I can be very competitive. I learned I could take my fitness to a whole new level.

What advice would you give to others about fitness?  Start somewhere, anywhere. Just start.

Any other comments?  Fitness is self-love.
