BACKGROUND:  I don’t keep a scale in my house. I know if my clothes aren’t fitting, it’s time to get back in control. The pandemic changed life for everyone, and it made me realize I need to keep my body moving.

What is your current exercise routine?  I am a SONKI boot camp warrior 3 days a week. I also walk and hike on the weekends. In a Pre-covid world I was able to mix things up with PLYOJAM, Pilates and loved yoga and boxing.

What is your motivation to stay in shape?  I have a family history of heart disease, so I think that staying healthy and trying to stay fit is vital as I get older. I want to be able to get in shape, stay in shape and have fun doing it.

What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape?  I always used to beat myself up when I had a “bad food” day or was eating emotionally. Now I listen to my body and always try to show up for exercise. Even if I am not able to go full throttle, I always try.

What is your key to success?  My fitness journey is a work in progress. I love that I am stronger and can see and feel changes in my body. It’s not perfect, but it’s getting better.

What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life?  I was walking through Palisades Park when I saw Sonki teaching. I watched everyone in the class and thought, “I can do this…” Sonki assesses each person in a boot camp class and makes adjustments when needed. There is no screaming, and you are pushed to excel. You are supported by your fellow warriors, and I look forward to seeing the familiar faces in my class each week. Working out and having a plan EVERY WEEK has made me calmer. It’s one hour that I have just for me…to breathe, not answer my phone and enjoy the outdoors.

What advice would you give to others about fitness?  Fitness is a journey. Stop beating yourself up and looking at what everyone else can do. I just focus on what I need to do for me. Anytime I can jog a little faster or get up a hill with some ease, I feel empowered. Everything is day-by-day.

Any other comments?  My bootcamp experience with SONKI FITNESS is a gift I give to myself every 5 weeks. Getting healthier feels really good.
