BACKGROUND:  I ran track in college and played football. I won athlete of the year and was the captain of both teams. I ran a 10.69 in the 100M and a 21.41 in the 200M. I was in a wheelchair 2 years prior after having 4 leg surgeries! I competed in track until 2022! I’ve now hung up my spikes and I currently compete in CrossFit type tournaments. I have felt that I’ve had an advantage there after years of building a strong foundation through Sonki Fitness! The principles I’ve learned at Sonki Fitness and the workouts that are injury preventative have never led me astray!

What is your current exercise routine?  Each week I religious do;

5x Cross Training (weights and HIIT cardio equipment)
3x Sauna
3x Ice Bath
1x Hill Sprints

What is your motivation to stay in shape?

To CONSTANTLY improve myself. I think the most important aspect of physical fitness is doing it consistently, which ironically helps me grow mentally more than anything else.

Additionally, I have been determined to get back into the best shape of my life during the first year of my daughter’s life. I have witnessed over the years that my clients, friends and acquaintances just stop exercising and give up on their health when they have a child. I want to be an example that not only can you continue to make your health a priority, you can get in the BEST shape of your life with a newborn!

What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape?  Right now, it is the sleepless nights due to a daughter, who after 5 months of living, will still not sleep more than 3-4 hours at a time. But I still wake up at 5am or 6am to get my butt into gear!

What is your key to success?  A no nonsense mentality. There is ZERO wiggle room to justify not getting a sweat in every single day. Even if it is 15 min of commandos or just a quick jog. Everyone has 15 minutes, regardless of how busy you are! Also, joining a group class like Sonki Fitness takes the stress out of thinking. It gives me more bandwidth to focus on life and family. I don’t need to think/plan a work out routine, I don’t need to find people to work out with, I just show up!

What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life?  Briefly touching on this in the previous question, Sonki takes the difficulty out of exercise. No excuses. Just show up! (On time!) and the rest is taken care of. Plus, the style of Sonki Fitness has NEVER injured me (just about every other form of exercise/sport has).

Furthermore, I have a unique relationship with Sonki Fitness because Sonki found me as a poor college student making $12/hr and gave me an opportunity to become a trainer. He has personally mentored me throughout my life, been a groomsman at my wedding and has helped me achieve a successful life both morally and professionally. As a direct result of Sonki Fitness, I am positioned well enough to provide for my family and live comfortably in Southern California. Thank you, Sonki.

What advice would you give to others about fitness?  Exercise will do more for your mind and mood than your body. The physical benefit is just the cherry on top!
