BACKGROUND:  I started working out with Sonki Fitness in 2004 and continued for several years. I eventually moved and found other exercise programs and also became a private fitness trainer. During the pandemic, I began doing Sonki’s exercise routines at home and ultimately decided to return at the beginning of this year. Sonki’s workouts include a fair amount of running and sprinting. I’m not a runner – I don’t enjoy how it feels in my body. However, I do appreciate the opportunity to push myself outside of my comfort zone and my ability to push through even when I think I have no energy left. During my last workout this week, I was able to run a distance that I hadn’t been able to run before without stopping or walking. That was a proud moment for me.

What is your current exercise routine?  Sonki Fitness 3x per week; Pilates 2-3x per week; Tai Chi 2-3x per week; Yoga 2-3x per week.

What is your motivation to stay in shape?  My desire to stay healthy and have the energy to do the things I love for as long as possible.

What is your key to success?  Being open to try new things to care for and challenge my mind, body, and spirit.

What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life?  I like the challenge of the workouts and the beauty of the outdoor setting. There’s nothing like working out surrounded by trees and the ocean!

What advice would you give to others about fitness?  Take a holistic approach to self-care. Explore and find out what you need personally to cultivate and maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit. And commit to engage in those activities regularly.
